Application technologies

GROTTO (Type Choks) should only be applied to a high-quality base. The surface must be solid, dry, and free from efflorescence, dust, dirt, oil, and grease. Previously painted surfaces must be cleaned from old coatings and sanded. Areas affected by mold or moss should be thoroughly cleaned mechanically and treated with BIOZIDGRUND primer (TM "ELF") or other specialized agents.

Apply QUARTZ PRIMER or QUARZGRUND (TM "ELF") to the prepared surface and allow it to dry completely (Fig. 1). Then, apply the first layer of GROTTO with a stainless steel trowel, evenly spreading the material to the grain size (Fig. 2).

Once the first layer is completely dry, apply the second layer of GROTTO using a brush or a trowel in a dabbing motion (Fig. 3).

It is also possible to apply the material in a single layer with subsequent processing using a plastic trowel to create an original pattern (RIO technique) (Fig. 4).

When the coating is almost dry, polish it with a metal trowel to achieve a glossy effect (Fig. 5). Before applying the decorative layer, it is recommended to prime the surface with VINILGRUND D-14 (TM "ELF") to facilitate the finishing layer application and prevent stains at the joints.

For interior decorative and protective layers, it is recommended to use DECOR WAX, DECOR WAX TOSCANA, or VINTAGE (Fig. 6).

It is also possible to apply a pre-tinted GROTTO base with subsequent finishing treatments to create additional effects. For modern coatings, AZURE chameleon lacquers or SPECIAL WAX metallic waxes can be used. To enhance the protective layer, use VARNISH PROTECT.

For facade work, it is recommended to apply AQUABARRIERE waterproofing primer (TM "ELF"). For further decoration and patina effects, VINTAGE glaze should be used.
